Of the Draa Valley to the erg chegaga

Caravan city dominated by Jebel Zagora on the road that leads to the large Saharan erg chegaga, Zagora stands on the middle reaches of the Draa.

Approaching the bridge over the Draa, there are the palm and on the opposite bank of the nearby village Amezrou 1.5 km south of the center of Zagora. In its old Jewish quarter, the Jewish quarter, artisans still make jewelry with traditional Berber motifs, African and Muslim.

Zagora is bisected by the wide avenue Mohammed V where there make all the necessary services, souvenir shops and many coffee shop. The souk in place on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Along Boulevard Mohammed V, restaurants pretty cheap offer a simple Moroccan cuisine: tagines, omelets, skewers and grill. Most hotels and guest houses serve meals often reservation.

Some hotels have a bar open to all, including the fibula Draa Kasbah Sirocco or riad Lamane.
Bivouacs and trips to Zagora.

Most of the tours will take you to Zagora on arid desert trails to spend the night under the stars in the heart of the dunes of Erg Chegaga. However the Draa Valley with many beautiful sights, historic ksours and plains of Hamada fossils and meteorites abounding here and there, the agencies have a choice therefore excursions.

Zagora stretches along a vast palm grove, offering us many excursions in the area, including the discovery of ksours and kasbahs scattered around the palm.

Ksar Tinezouline

A 31 km north of Zagora to Ouarzazate, the Ksar Tinezouline dominates the road and on the right palm. At the entrance of the village, a large enclosure host a lively and colorful souk every Monday. A small path leads to the rock carvings 7 km from the Ksar.
 


Ksar Tissergate.

A few kilometers north of Zagora, the village consists of old kasbah with mud walls is its narrow alleys and covered to protect passersby from the assaults of the sun. It houses the Museum of Arts and Traditions of the Draa Valley and opens at the side of the palm.
Amzrou.

The small village of Zagora Amezrou adjacent south once the wadi past. The Jewish quarter consists of narrow alleys and underground passages identified imposing ramparts is home to a tradition of crafts jewelry initiated by Jews and pursued by the Berbers.

At the end, beautiful walks in the palm grove along the river Draa and Further the taghadirt, former watchtower rises above the houses overlooking the valley, with stunning views of the surroundings.
 

Tamegrout.

Further south, the town of adobe famous for its crafts ceramic with a very special dark green, and the 4000 religious and scientific manuscripts in the Koranic library in the village.
 

Tinfou dunes.

25 km from Zagora dunes Tinfou give a taste of desert bivouac nomad tents and camels at the foot of the dunes.

At the end, beautiful walks in the palm grove along the river Draa, and further, the taghadirt, former watchtower rises above the houses overlooking the valley, with stunning views of the surroundings.
